Public Information Campaign on Bharat Nirman Programme begins at Daporijo

The 4-Day Public Information Campaign on Bharat Nirman organized by Press Information Bureau, Government of India in association with Directorate of Field Publicity, Song and Drama Division, Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity, Directorate of Information and Public Relation, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh and District Administration, Daporijo began at Singik Hall, Daporijo today. The Campaign has been organized as per decision taken at the level of Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister to organize public awareness campaigns throughout the country on the flagship programmes of the Central Government such as Bharat Nirman, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Right to Information Act, Mid Day Meal Programme, National Rural Health Mission, National Rural Employment Guarantee Act., Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, Integrated Child Development Services Scheme(ICDS), Prime Minister’s New 15 Point Programme for the Welfare of the Minorities and HIV/AIDS etc.
Shri Takar Marde, Deputy Speaker of Arunachal Pradesh State Legislative Assembly inaugurated the Programme. Speaking as the Chief Guest, Shri Marde that this type of awareness campaign launched by Press Information Bureau will benefit the common people. Dwelling at length on the history of Arunachal Pradesh, he said that the pace of development in the state is very slow compared to other states. This has affected the overall development of the state. Shri Marde appealed the people to be ever vigilant about various schemes of Central Government which are being implemented through state government.
Addressing the meeting as resource person on RTI Act, Shri K. Bomjen, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Upper Subansiri District said that this a unique act which empowers the people to know about various activities of the Government. He appealed the people to avail of the Act to safeguard democracy through this right.
Addressing the meeting, Smt. Yade Nachi, Zilla Chairperson appealed people to be aware of various schemes of the Central Government, which are meant for them. She also appealed people to be part of development process.
Addressing as resource person on NREGA, Shri T. Pada, Project Director, DRDA, Daporijo said that Upper Subansiri District is the only district of Arunachal Pradesh, which has been included among the 200 NREGA districts in our country. He also said about NREGA and its implementation in the district.
Speaking as resource person on SSA, Shri M. Gillo, ADEO, SSA, Daporijo said about various activities under SSA in the district. He said that there are 234 EGES centers in the district. In addition to this, there are 6 Block Resource Centres, 2 Cluster Resource Centres and 6 BRC buildings the district.
Speaking as resource person on Mid Day Meal Scheme Mrs. D.S.Barman, CDPO, Daporijo said that there are 48 Anganwadi Centres in the district. ICDS Scheme covers altogether 13,604 persons in the district.
Speaking as resource person on NRHM Dr. J. M. Boje, District Medical Officer, Daporijo said about NRHM and its implementation in the district. He said that due to inadequate fund, the scheme has not been could not be properly implemented in the district.
Speaking as resource person on HIV/AIDS, Dr. E. Rumi, Project Director, State AIDS Control Society, Itanagar said that so far 92 cases have been detected in the State. For this reason, he appealed the people to use condoms to prevent AIDS.
Earlier Shri B. Narzary, Deputy Director General, Press Information Bureau, Government of India, Guwahati welcomed the participants. The programme was followed by theme based cultural programme presented by Song and Drama Division.
