5-DAY MULTI MEDIA CAMPAIGN TO BE HELD IN DHUBRI DISTRICT FROM
FEBRUARY 2 TO 6, 2006

The Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee, IMPCC, Assam of the Ministry
of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India will organize the second Multi Media
Campaign during the financial year 2005-2006 in Dhubri district from February 2 to 6,
2006.
The inaugural function will be held at Mahamaya Maidan, Gauripur on Thursday,
February 2, 2006. Shri Pachu Gopal Chakrabarty, Vice President, Assam Sahitya
Sabha will be the Chief Guest of the inaugural function. Shri Shanti Pada Roy, Freedom
fighter will be the Guest of Honour. He will also inaugurate the exhibition organized by
the Directorate of Advertising & Visual Publicity. Shri B. Narzary, Chairman, IMPCC, and
Regional Director, DAVP, will preside over the function. Earlier in the day, a Rally by
school children will be taken out from Mahamaya Maidan to Matia Bagh Rajbari via Girl's
High School and congregate at the Maidan for the inaugural function.
The following themes will be taken up during the campaign period.
- National Rural Health Mission
- HIV/AIDS Awareness Programme
- National Iodine Deficiency Disorder Control Programme
- Rural Development
- National Integration and Communal Harmony
- Right to Information
- Common Minimum Programme
- Women Empowerment.
All the media units of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India
will be participating in the multi media campaign, with the support of the State DIPR,
local district administration, Gauripur Town Committee and NGOs.
Apart from highlighting on the various themes in a campaign mode in and around
Gauripur town, cultural evenings will be organized from February 2 to 5, 2006. These
evenings have been named after prominent personalities hailing from the area who have
contributed immensely to the state. The Cultural evening on February 2, has been
termed as Promothesh Barua Nite, the leading film personality of Assam hailing from
Gauripur. The evening will be inaugurated by Shri Prabir Kumar Barua. The second
cultural evening on February 3, which has been termed as Sarat Chandra Singha Nite,
former Chief Minister will be inaugurated by Shri Binay Kumar Dutta, Chairman,
Gauripur Town Committee. On February 4, the cultural evening termed as Pratima
Pandey Barua Nite, the noted folk singer, will be inaugurated by Erica Nandi, Social
activist and dancer. On February 5, Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma Nite will be
inaugurated by Shri Banendra Kumar Mushahary, MLA. Gurudev Kalichran Brahma was
a preacher and social reformer of the Bodo community, who hailed from the area.
The 1st Multi Media Campaign was held in Morigaon district from December 15 to
19, 2005. The campaign got a good response from the rural masses as the programmes
were designed to touch upon every aspect of their lives.
